It was more than four years in South Africa as a missionary kid and at college at the Word of Life Bible Institute as well as time growing up in Goshen, Indiana that helped Pastor Andrew Anderson develop a love of the Word of God. He continued his pursuit of his religious studies and undergraduate work as well as a Master's in Ministry from the Piedmont International University Divinity School in Winston-Salem, NC. While in North Carolina, he held positions as an associate pastor, youth pastor, and lay leader at three Baptist churches. In 2002, he met his wife Whitney, and they were married in 2005. Pastor Drew, as he prefers to be called, went on to receive another Master's, this time in Biblical Counseling, from Luther Rice Seminary in Georgia.
In 2020, Pastor Drew moved his wife and now 2 children to Caseyville, Illinois to serve as pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church. In 2022 he led this Independent Baptist congregation to join the ABC-USA church. Having been raised Southern Baptist, Drew feels better aligned with the American Baptist Churches' focus on inclusion, equality, social justice, and ministering to the marginalized, as Jesus did. He feels he has grown in his faith journey and describes himself as being more progressive in theology and practice. As for his call to ministry, Drew has a real sense that when he is serving and teaching in the local church, that is where he's supposed to be.
On Sunday, October 22, 2023, we welcomed Pastor Drew and his family and began a new and exciting ministry together!
Pastor Drew desires to have a presence and to be of service within the community of Madison. He feels strongly that a thriving church should reflect a cross section of the community it is a part of.
